Velur, March 27: Devotees gave a rousing welcome to Jayendrar [Swamigal], who came to conduct prayers at the temple in Valajapettai on Saturday [March 26].
At the temples, as well as on the main streets, he was welcomed with 'Kumba' maryadai [full honors and respects]. Along the route he traveled, Hindu Munnani organizers let off fire crackers and vigorously raised slogans loudly.
Hindu Munnani, as well as VHP organizers gave Jayendrar [Swamigal] a rousing welcome. He came and conducted prayers at Navashakti Vinayakar Temple, Sridevi Kammariamman, Ayappan Temple, Murugan Temple, Vinayakar Temple, Rama Bhaktha Aanjaneyar Temple [and] Kasi Viswanathar Temple.
When his car entered Valajapettai Bazaar Road, the Auto drivers association of that area welcomed him with Kumba mariyaadai.
Masses of devotees crowded along the main streets he travelled, waited there and got blessings. Following Jayendrar's vehicle, the Kanchi Peetam vehicle distributed flyers containing Jayendrar Swamigal and Vijayendrar Swamigal's photos.
Kumkum was distributed to devotees who were waiting along the streets. Jayendrar went to Sundaramoorthy's house on Valajapettai Main Road. Sundaramoorthy and his successors have been serving at the Mutt. They have willed their house to Sankaramatam. Whenever Jayendrar passes through Valaajapettai, it is always the custom that he goes to their house, revealed people of the area.
Jayendrar went on foot to Arundadiyar Colony in Tiruvalluvarnagar. Then, he went and prayed in Mariamman Temple. The youth of that area welcomed him with Kolattam [a folk dance performed with 2 sticks are tapped in rhythm; a Souther version of 'dandiya'].
People of that area requested Jayendrar to renovate the Mariamman temple. Some ladies held up their infant children before Jayendrar to be blessed. He too placed his hand on the children's head and blessed them. Around 7 pm, he started his return [trip] to Kalavai
